Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a non-profit aviation organisation that flies light aircraft from Dili’s Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport. It runs scheduled services for visitors, NGO workers and residents, charter flights, and Timor-Leste’s medical evacuations.
Scheduled flights
- Destinations: Atauro, Baucau, Lospalos, Maliana, Same, Suai and Viqueque, on fixed routes 2–3 times a week (official tourism site). Check MAF’s scheduled-services timetable for current days.
- Fares: sold per seat between two places. MAF does not publish fares online; ask for the current price.
- Atauro is the quickest option for the island: the flight is far shorter than the 2–3 hour ferry. Arrange a pickup from the airstrip with your accommodation. See the Dili to Atauro guide.
Charters
Three aircraft are available for charter Monday to Saturday, roughly 6:30am to 6:30pm, depending on weather and season. Pilots may wait for your return flight on the same day if available.
How to book
- Fill in the “Request a Flight” form on MAF Timor-Leste’s website. The form is not a confirmation.
- The bookings team replies by email or phone to confirm the seat and fare.
Before you fly
- Passengers and all luggage are weighed. You may have to leave bags behind if the plane is over its limit.
- Because MAF flies medical evacuations, a plane can be taken off a scheduled flight at short notice. For weather, pilot or maintenance cancellations, MAF offers a full refund or the next available flight.
