Hakmatek is a highland community just south of Maubisse, in Ainaro municipality, that has been developing small-scale eco-tourism, including walks to the Ersalibuti waterfall. Its guesthouse has simple thatched-roof bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Breakfast is included, other meals can be arranged, and local guides can take you on hikes and village visits in the surrounding coffee country.

The official tourism site lists a locally owned guesthouse called Knua Hakmatek in Telituko, Maubesi (Maubisse), with 2 rooms from US$30 a night. We believe it is the same place, but could not confirm this. An older listing gave the phone number +670 7514 1362.
