The Dare Memorial Museum and Café sits in the hills at Dare, in Dili municipality, a short but steep drive up from the city. It commemorates the Second World War campaign on Timor in 1942 and 1943 and the Timorese who supported Australian commandos fighting the Japanese. The displays are worn and run-down, but the views over Dili and the café make the drive worthwhile.
