Timorese Resistance Archive & Museum

Bilingual museum in central Dili tracing Timor-Leste's road to independence, 1975 to 1999, through photographs, documents and films.

By Updated

The Timorese Resistance Archive & Museum (Arquivo & Museu da Resistência Timorense, AMRT) in central Dili tells the story of the independence struggle, from the Indonesian invasion of 1975 to the 1999 referendum. Hundreds of photographs, documents, objects and short films cover the armed, clandestine and diplomatic fronts of the resistance and the lives of ordinary Timorese under occupation. Labels are bilingual.
