Tour de Timor

The Tour de Timor is an annual International Mountain Bike Race held in Timor-Leste.

The event was first held in 2009 and was an initiative of HE, the former President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, as part of his “Dili – City of Peace” campaign.

Hundreds of people from various parts of the world participate, and the greatest trophy of the event are the rustic scenery and the comforting environment that only Timorese people know how to offer.

For Timor-Leste, sport is not just about exercise with social and health benefits, but it is also a crucial tool in peacebuilding, youth engagement, education, gender equality, and economic development.

In this way, sporting events like the Tour de Timor are also key to the development of the nation and to the well-being and livelihoods of Timorese.
